THE community of Launceston once again outdid themselves supplying a creative collection of Christmas trees for this year’s ‘Festival of Cribs and Trees’.

Around 80 trees lined the walls and pews of St Mary Magdalene’s Church in Launceston, ready for the grand opening on Friday evening, December 1.

The mayor Cllr Helen Bailey was only too pleased to conduct the official opening which coincided with the Launceston Light Switch On and commented on how wonderful the display was looking.

Among those taking part this year was the Smart Start Preschool, who said ahead of the festival: “The children have been busy making their lovely decorations for our tree which has been put up in St Mary’s Church today. The Christmas Tree festival looks spectacular.”

Thanks were expressed to the team of volunteers who helped coordinate the festival and made it possible.
