LADIES from Launceston were amongst those from across Cornwall who got behind the wheels of some large and unusual vehicles at the Marie Curie Ladies' Driving Challenge in Portreath on Sunday, September 4.
They had the opportunity to drive HGVs, bendy buses, fire engines, monster trucks, farm machinery and JCBs, and even operated a loading crane, removing a car from a lorry.
Members from The Cornwall Advanced Motorists attended and guided the ladies through a skills section, checking out their manoeuvring and parking skills. Cornwall Council also loaned their skid car for the ladies to experience what it is like to handle a car in icy road conditions.
