LAUNCESTON Foyer, the resource for young and vulnerable people to access housing, training and advice, commissioned by Cornwall Council and run by Devon and Cornwall Housing (DCH), is to close at the end of the month, due to 'low demand'.
Bude Foyer, operated by Stonham for Cornwall Council, was closed in July, also due to 'low demand.
Cornwall Council commissions supported accommodation from a number of providers in Cornwall through the Adult Care, Health and Wellbeing directorate. Supported accommodation provides services to help a person maintain their tenancy. It is a preventative service, although it can assist the council in delivering its statutory duties for young people.
Launceston Foyer provided five units of accommodation for single, young people (aged 16 to 24), who are homeless or at risk of being homeless, and have a support need.
