Launceston Foyer held its annual Open Day on July 28 at the Foyer with a whole list of VIPs including the Mayor of Launceston, Cllr Paul O'Brien and his wife Rosemary, North Cornwall MP Dan Rogerson and the local councillors coming to have a look around. The residents took charge and dressed up for the occasion and acted as willing hosts by showing people around, making drinks and generally answering questions about what it is like to live in the Foyer. The Foyer network within Cornwall offers accommodation with support around training, education and employment and also offers lots of support in many other areas of life for 16 to 25-year-olds. Justin Riviere, Senior Foyer Officer, said: "A big thank you to everyone who attended and especially the residents and helpers, you know who you are!" Mr Rogerson praised the work of the Foyer and said: "Launceston Foyer does excellent work, providing young people not just with a roof over their heads but real life chances too. The connection they insist on between the offer of supported living space and the necessity of gaining skills and qualifications makes the transition to independent living quicker and more successful. It was great to be at the Foyer's open day, and see that the hard work both of the staff and the residents has paid off. It was inspiring to meet current and past residents and to hear how their lives have moved on as a direct result of their time at Launceston Foyer. Congratulations to all involved."
