Launceston College held their presentation evening on Thursday, December 4. Principal Jack Jackson said: "We are here to celebrate the success of last year's Year 11 students. As a group of students this Year 11 have the great accolade of achieving the best ever set of GCSE results that any year group has ever achieved at Launceston College with over 65 per cent of students achieving five or more GCSEs at grades A*-C. This success was not achieved easily. It represents hours of work over many years, it was achieved with the support of friends and family, of outstanding committed teachers and other college staff but above all a determination to succeed from a very talented group of young people." The students' certificates were presented by Anne Daniels, the record breaking polar explorer who was also part of the first all women's team to ski to both the North and South Pole. Special awards were presented and these went to: Highest Attaining Girl — Jane Fraser; Highest Attaining Boy — Lawrence Sampson; Best Overall Student (achieving most GCSEs) — Nathan Parsons; Highest Achieving Girl — Jess Coles; Highest Achieving Boy — Jamie Daniells; Attendance award — Emily Creber; North Cornwall Sports Award — Badminton Team (Lawrence Sampson, Andy Brewster, Ross Lashbrook, Patrick Davis and Phil Lyle); Head of Year's Award for contribution to the college — Eppie Greenhalgh.
