RICHARD Graham, owner of The Bookshop in Launceston, has sold the shop so he can enjoy the rest of his retirement with his wife.
The Bookshop was sold at an auction in Plymouth on August 9, and Richard plans to be closed by August 31.
The story all began when Richard realised his collection of cookery books, from his 30 years in catering, were too much for his home — or more of a case that Mrs Graham wanted the spare bedroom back.
He had thought selling books would be a good side earner, and a way of ridding himself of the cook books.
