A LAUNCESTON author is encouraging local people to publish their own books after fulfilling her ambition to write a poetry collection.

Janet Guest founded Caseys Court Publishing in order to get her book out of her head and into the shops.

The title, 'Bringing Out The Sunshine From Within', was inspired by a young man named Max who Janet said she was privileged to work with at Music Club which she runs at Launceston College.

"I hope people enjoy it. It's for children and the children in us," she said.

"I've been writing since I was little as I've always been interested in words and writing. I used to read poems to my children when they were little and make up funny poems."

Janet rediscovered her love of poetry when she started reading to people at local residential homes and pupils in schools.
