ONE-STOP shops set up by the new Cornwall Council in places such as Launceston, Bude and Camelford could have their hours of opening reduced in a money-saving move.

The warning was sounded by Cornwall Councillor Alex Folkes at the December meeting of Launceston Town Council.

He said the council was proposing to cut money from the locality budget and one-stop shops (where all the council's services are available) could be cut from five days opening a week to three days.

The situation was now under review in order to save money by closing some days.

"I have no idea where Launceston's one-stop shop will come in the rankings. We strongly suspect we will retain five-day opening but we can't be certain."

They would make every effort to make sure it was retained.
