PARK LEISURE, the owner of Pentire Coastal Holiday Park, has withdrawn two planning applications for land at Stibb Level after receiving objections.

Permission was granted in 2018 to change the use of the land to accommodate 36 holiday static caravans, 100 camping pods, staff accommodation, recreational space, a facilities’ building and sales ground.

However, Park Leisure recently put in a revised application stating it still wished to erect pods on the fields under the 2018 planning permission but, as the approved pod is no longer manufactured, the alternative pods are larger, resulting in the proposed 100 pods being reduced to 36.

Some local residents were not happy with this. Sharon Taplin said she strongly objected to the application which was ‘another in a long line of piecemeal applications’.

She was concerned the pods would be too large and the density too great and added that another application had been submitted for a further 50 concrete bases on an area of the park which had been referred to in the master plan as open recreation space.

Kilkhampton Parish Council said it had ‘grave concerns over this application with the way the site is being developed.’

It felt there was a lack of clarity and needed more reassurances towards the original plan.

And the National Trust was also unhappy with the plans, saying the proposed developments would have an unacceptable impact on the landscape, eroding the outlook for people visiting the historic motte and bailey castle.

Park Leisure also withdrew its application for the creation of concrete bases for the siting of static caravans and associated decking; creation of a gas compound, electricity substation and foul water pumping station.

n ST ENDELLION Parish Council has applied for Listed Building Consent to reconfigure the public toilets on Roscarrock Hill, Port Issac.

The Grade II listed building is in the listed ‘Fish Cellar’ in the Port Issac conservation area.

The parish council, which rents the toilets from Cornwall Council, wants to reconfigure the units from five separate male and female units to six unisex units with pay points on each door.

The supporting design statement pointed out that the pay point on the current main access door can be held open to allow for visitors to use the facilities without paying, which has made the upkeep of the building unsustainable.

n AN ANNEXE for family and friends, with occasional holiday use, is proposed for Fielden, Underhayes Lane, St Stephens, Launceston. Planning has been applied for.

n LISTED BUILDING consent and change of use has been applied for, for the accountancy offices at 12, Southgate Street, Launceston with plans to turn them into six residential flats which would include some demolition to reinstate a courtyard.

n A SECOND storey residential apartment can be constructed above Metherall Gard accountants in Burn View, Bude, say planners.

n AN APPLICATION to build three new homes on land east of Pudners Cottage, Poughill, Bude has been withdrawn.

n PLANS to turn a former residential home into houses or flats could have problems getting approved.

Fernleigh House on Fore Street, Albaston, Gunnislake, is a detached two-storey house which accommodated 11 young adults with behavioural difficulties between 1990 and 2019.

The applicant, Alastair Tinto, is now considering subdividing the property to create one three bed house and one four bed house or converting the property into four flats.

Giving pre-application advice, Principal Development Officer, George Shirley said the home is likely to qualify as a community facility, so its loss would likely need to be justified.

There was also concern that there was enough external space, even with part of the building earmarked for demolition, in the plan.

In conclusion Mr Shirley said: ‘With this in mind, I don’t believe that it has been demonstrated the proposed use of the property for residential purposes would be likely acceptable.’

n GUNNISLAKE Health Centre pharmacy has applied for planning permission to install a Medpoint Solo prescription collection machine at the side of the pharmacy.

n PERMISSION has been granted for a detached house on land adjacent to Coxpark, Latchley, Gunnislake.
