THE last meeting of North Cornwall District Council's Planning and Development Committee before the unitary authority takes over will be held on Monday, March 23 at 2pm.
District Councillor Nigel Pearce reported at a meeting of Bude Stratton Town Council on Thursday, March 5 that after the unitary authority, 'One Cornwall', had taken over on April 1, three new Sub-Area Planning Committees would be set up to deal with planning applications until the district elections on June 4.
Each Sub Area Planning Committee will cover an area relating to approximately two districts. Six councillors from the existing NCDC Planning Committee will join six councillors from Caradon's Planning Committee to form the East area committee.
The first meeting of the East area planning committee will be held on April 23 at Liskeard at 5pm.
Planning meetings for the East area will be held every three weeks at either Liskeard or Camelford, Cllr Pearce said. That principle would continue after the June 4 elections.
Cllr Roger Rowland, Chairman of Bude and Stratton Town Council's Planning Committee was concerned that the county's three week cycle would "throw our cycle into confusion."
Cllr Julia Bryson asked whether the Binhamy Farm development would come up after the last NCDC meeting on March 23 and before the June 4 elections. Cllr Pearce said he did not know when the application would come up for discussion again but had been told "it could go on" as there was a lot more information to be considered.
Cllr Pearce was thanked by both the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Peter Moores, and the Mayor Cllr Peter La Broy for his service as a district councillor.
