THE honours were shared in this evenly matched contest, writes Lisa Cornish.

The game was played in good spirit and at a high tempo end to end throughout. Morwenstow took the advantage in the 25th minute when Keith Cornish's free kick was met in the box by Djamel Bousahla for him to head home from six yards.

Both teams went on to create further chances in the first half the best of which came in the final minute, Tavistock's Adam McPherson beat Mo'stow's defence and found himself 1 on 1 with the greens 'keeper Aaron Gregory only to be denied by a good save.

Early in the second half Gary Walter saw the chance to lob the 'keeper from just inside the Tavistock half only for the 'keeper to scramble back and keep it out.

This seemed to spur Tavistock on again and with 50 minutes played they attacked down the right and crossed the ball to the edge of the box where it was met with a superb over head kick by McPherson which went in off the post. It was from the right again that Tavy scored their second with Chris Hutchins' low driven shot from the edge of the box finding the corner of the net past the out-stretched Gregory.

With 20 minutes left the game was far from over and Keith Cornish's accurate through ball found the feet of Ashley Thomas for him to calmly place the ball past the advancing 'keeper, ten minutes later Gary Walter found the pass and Thomas, who this time took the ball down on his chest and hit it on the half volley into the net.

Tavistock pushed on and in the dying seconds were awarded a free kick by the corner flag which was met in the box by Chris Faulkner who nodded into make the final score 3-3.
