TIME is running out to get any parking issues off your chest by taking part in the town parking survey.

The deadline to let Cornwall Council know your views about on-street parking in Bude, Falmouth and Penryn, Newquay, Penzance and Newlyn, St Ives, Truro and Wadebridge is midnight this Sunday (February 28).

Links to the surveys and more information can be found on the Council’s website: www.cornwall.gov.uk/parkingreview

The survey focusses on people’s experience either as a resident, business owner or visitor in the towns, and the eight towns have been selected to identify what issues people may have with parking - whether it is finding a space to park outside their house or how on-street parking is managed in the town centre.

There has been a lot of interest in the parking survey, with over 5,000 responses received so far. Parking is a key part of managing traffic and the economic vitality of Cornish towns.

Cornwall Council hope that by engaging with the public they’ll be able to gain a better understanding of the issues as parking is one of the most common subjects of complaint received by the Council. The parking review should also provide the council with a town wide picture, rather than dealing with one individual parking issue at a time.

Bert Biscoe, Cornwall Council Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “Are you hacked off about parking — get it off your chest now — before midnight on February 28. We want to know how you think we can address the problems; we have to find a balance between residents and commuters.

“We can’t have communities torn apart by anxiety in this way. Let us know how you feel before midnight — feelings matter!”

The focus of the parking survey is around on-street parking issues including residents and commuter parking, town centre short stay parking and associated issues including provision for businesses to load and unload, disabled parking and access for other road users.

The results of the surveys will be used to identify parking proposals for the towns which could be implemented as early as autumn 2017.

The results of the survey will be presented to the Council’s Transport Policy Advisory Committee in May 2016.

WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff will be collating and analysing the survey responses on behalf of Cornwall Council.
