THERE is still time to get tickets for an evening of entertainment, in aid of The Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund this Sunday, March 4, at Launceston Town Hall.
Headlining the concert will be The Countryman, who will be ably supported by comedian and singer, Johnny Cowling, and the group, Twin Harmony.
The Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund was formed in 1983 in memory of Robert, the son of trustee, Bob Johns.
Robert fought the disease for five long years but sadly lost his battle aged 11, 35 years ago.
His treatment centres were the Leukaemia Cancer Ward 5 at Freedom Fields Hospital, Plymouth, now the Children’s Day Beds Oncology Unit at Derriford Hospital, for who the group funds equipment, toys and books; and also the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, Surrey, where in later stages, Robert went for a bone marrow transplant.
The fund’s money is divided between these two centres every year. Up to August 2017, the RJLF raised over £233,100.
This coming weekend’s concert promises to be a night not to be missed!
All three acts have supported the charity for many years.
Johnny Cowling has performed at concerts at Penstowe, and also at gospel evenings throughout the area.
The Countryman took the charity on board some 14 months ago, with gigs around the area and all over Cornwall.
Twin Harmony have supported the RJLF for many years, with concerts and through proceeds from a CD they recorded.
They have raised over £7,000 for the charity alone, and they’re still going!
Bob Johns said: “I really can’t thank them all enough for their support and friendship. I feel very humble for all their support. Once again, thank you all.”
Tickets are priced at £8 in advance or £10 on the door.
Tickets are available from the Cornish Riviera box office — www.crbo.co.uk — or from Bob Johns on 01288 341441.
