A WELL-KNOWN trader, who has been selling plants next to Southgate Arch in Launceston for over 20 years, has been told that he must find a new pitch. Fernley Jasper, from Polyphant, has sold plants in the town for over 50 years — starting with cabbages back in the 1950s. He began trading on the Race Hill side of the arch in 1952/53, and moved from there to Chings Alley a number of years later, where he stayed until 1990.
