LAST Wednesday, Dental Dimensions, Launceston, were forced to suspend registration for the NHS Vital Dental Service due to high demand.
People were able to register for NHS dental treatment from Monday morning, December 29 and hundreds of people queued to put their name down. The practice said they were hoping to provide treatment for 1,000 to 2,000 patients.
By Wednesday, December 31, registration had been suspended until further notice.
Principal dentist at the practice, Dr Andrew Crighton said: "Dental Dimensions and Vital Dental Service would like to thank those patients who have registered for the limited places available for the recently created NHS service.
"Dental Dimensions has been closed for normal service over the last three days and has dedicated this time to registration. Due to the high demand the practice is now suspending registration for the NHS Vital Dental Service until further notice.
"A waiting list will be created for those interested in registering in the future. The practice would like to thank the people of Launceston for their patience and support."
