The Martin family of Launceston recently travelled to the Birmingham NEC to take part in the final of the Sewing World magazine competition. Mum Katrina entered with a colourful dress she made from scratch, and her son, Connor, also entered a dress in the Recycle class. His dress was modelled by sister, Paige. Katrina and Connor both won their class and won a top of the range sewing machine. Katrina was surprised at the level of competition at the event, as there were competitors from Ireland and all over the UK. The dress was only the second garment she had made, and she was delighted when she was named as the winner. Her dress was featured in the Sewing World magazine and she hopes to develop her own label.
