THE children of Kingfisher Nursery, Boyton had a real treat when visiting nearby Hornacott Barton, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs G Martyn, and Mr and Mrs P Martyn-Uglow when they were able to watch a sheep lambing upon arrival, and another before they left.

Children, staff and parent helpers were visiting the farm as they have been learning about new life and change; they were able to see lambs already born, and helped to feed some with bottles of milk.

Straw bales had been laid out for children to sit and have snack time, which included a birthday cake as the visit coincided with Lesley Martyn-Uglow’s birthday.

After a snack, the group were shown around the bullock shed before leaving on the mini-bus, kindly driven by Mark Blencowe.

Each child was presented with a bag containing many goodies together with information on farming in Cornwall, which Lesley had sourced and had been donated by various agricultural businesses.

A great time was had by all and many parents commented on how much their children had talked about the trip. Thanks were expressed to the Martyn and Uglow families for a fabulous morning out.

Kingfisher Nursery is now open from 9am-3pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings during term time, with a Parent, Baby & Toddler Group starting after Easter on Friday mornings from 9am-11am.
