TWO fire engines from Okehampton were sent to assist a farmer whose lamb had become stuck in a pipe under the entrance road to the car park of Meldon Reservoir near Okehamp­ton, at around 8.12pm on Friday.

Crews found the lamb was trapped in a 12 metre long 18 inch diameter drain pipe, which was at a depth of three metres. Drain covers were removed to aid access to the drain pipe.

Fire officers were able to release the lamb using safe height working equipment, ladders and small tools.

South West Water also attended the scene and assisted fire crews.
