Lewannick Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS) has been able to give a fantastic sum of £2,500 to charity.

A sum of £1,250 will be divided between four Cornish blind support groups, £625 will go to The Cornwall Downs Syndrome Support Group, and £625 will go to The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund at Derriford.

Publicity secretary for LADS and this year’s pantomime villain, Sarah Fry said: “For the last 21 years we have given 50% of our profits to four small Cornish blind support groups, for the first 50 years all our profits went to The Cornish Blind.

She explained that the cast and crew put forward suggestions of other local charities to receive the remaining 50%.

Sarah explained: “This year we voted for The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund at Derriford, and The Cornwall Down’s Syndrome Support Group. Members of our group have had personal dealings with these charities, so it’s good to be able to give something back to them.”

The group put on fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for their pantomime, so that all the profits made from their four production nights can be donated to charity.

Sarah mentioned a few of the fundraising events that help support their production. She said: “We put on treasure hunts, wine and wisdoms, bingo and craft fares to name a few of the things we’ve done over the years!

“We would like to thank everyone that has supported us in any way at all, from advertising, coming to fundraisers or by watching the productions. It’s all vital to our success, and none of this would be possible without all the support we receive.”

If anyone is interested in getting involved with LADS they can email, [email protected] or by going along to their annual general meeting on March 12, Lewannick Village Hall at 7.30pm.
