POLICE are investigating an assault involving a knife that took place in Tintagel on Sunday.

Sometime between 1.30pm and 1.50pm, a man in his early 30s who was in an alley way, alongside the Indian Ocean Restaurant, was approached by a man, also in his 30s, who was holding a kitchen knife with a blade around six to eight inches long.

The offender allegedly put the knife to the man's stomach area and the victim grabbed the blade to prevent getting stabbed, resulting in cuts to the hand.

The offender then left, running across the street to a nearby vehicle.
