KIVELLS in Launceston has contributed to raising over £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Kivells have announced that they have raised a grand total of £2,183.83 for Macmillan Cancer Support in 2016.

The charity was chosen at Kivells’ charity of the year, and the staff have been working hard to support the charity in every way they can.

Offices in Devon and Cornwall have been getting involved, having hosted coffee mornings, wig days and charity runs, to name just a few. Sam Turner, property manager in the Liskeard office, will soon be embarking on the London Marathon to raise funds and awareness.

As part of the fundraising, the Launceston office sold some hessian Kivells bags, and a member of staff recently ran a half marathon, raising sponsorship money.

Staff from Launceston also took part in the instruction campaign, involving Kivells making a donation of £10 to Macmillan for every instruction they got in January.

The money raised will go towards supporting cancer sufferers and their families across the country. There are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and as more people live longer with cancer, this number is set to grow to four-million by 2030.

The money raised by Kivells could fund 43 microwaves for cancer sufferers, making it easier to prepare their food; run a large Macmillan information centre for 16 days; or pay for a Macmillan nurse for 78 hours.

Kivells have expressed thanks to all those who have helped raise these funds, promising the support will help make a difference to people affected by cancer.

Kivells will shortly be announcing their charity of the year for 2017, and will be looking for new ways to support and raise money for this year.
