DELABOLE'S much improved form of late was carried through into this fixture and they nearly gained all three points with Southgate just squeezing out a result with a goal in the closing minutes.

Southgate should have opened the scoring early in the first half when a searching left wing cross from Lee Robinson found Andy Penn in front of goal but he was unable to head the ball goalwards.

Soon after Delabole took the lead a half cleared corner was returned to the taker Sam Capstick who put in a better cross which was headed home by Michael Irwin.

Southgate equalised on the stroke of half time when Andy Crocombe picked up an errant clearance near the halfway line and sent over a beautifully angled ball which was met with a firm header from Liam Hancock to score.

The second half did not flow as well as the first half but Delabole scored a cracking goal when the ball eluded the Southgate defence and found Ollie Mitchell lurking on the left of the penalty area and he hit the sweetest half volley that zipped into the net.

From then on Southgate put a lot of pressure on the home defence without really testing the home 'keeper and the points appeared to be slipping away until a corner from Ed Horn was prodded over the line by Kevin Hoare to salvage a valuable draw.

This was Kevin's first goal for three seasons.
