THE ‘Lifton Bikers’ were in Launceston’s Tesco store on Saturday to raise awareness of the 1,000 mile challenge they are undertaking next month, and to see one of their supporters have their head shaved for charity.
On September 10 the Lifton Bikers will start their cycling challenge from John O’Groats to Lands End, raising money and awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, on behalf of their close friend, Jeremy Durrant, who has suffered from the disease for three years. The cycle is expected to take 14 days to complete.
The eight Lifton Bikers are Mike Wood, Martin Vanstone, Paul Davies, Malcolm Bird, Luke Harris, Alastair Batten, Paul Arscott and Adam Pengelly.
At the Launceston Tesco store on Saturday, Joe Vanstone had his head shaved by his mother Shelley Vanstone, who works at the store. Joe raised £747.
The Lifton Bikers are urging as many people as possible to donate to the cause and support their fundraising events. To donate, visit their Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/LiftonBikers/donate
