ON Thursday, January 16, Paul Ford, a volunteer with the Cornwall Air Ambulance, was presented with a cheque for £1,000 from monies raised at the highly successful ‘Jigsaw Exhibition’ held at Yeolmbridge Methodist Church in November.
The cheque was presented by Susan Desmond, organiser of the event, who said it had been an ‘incredibly happy and worthwhile experience’ with enthusiastic community participation over many months.
The exhibition had exceeded all expectations both on a financial and social scale. The choice of main charity to benefit was as a result of a talk on the Cornwall Air Ambulance given to the Werrington Ladies’ Circle by Paul earlier in the year.
In response Paul expressed his appreciation saying that the target of 71.2-million for a new helicopter is very close to being realised. It is anticipated the new helicopter will enter service on April 1 of this year with more space and additional equipment and with extended flying hours — from 7am to 2am the next day.
Other charities who benefitted from the exhibition were The League of Friends of Launceston Hospital, Launceston Foodbank, Launceston Money Advice Centre, Werrington Church, Yeolmbridge Club and Yeolmbridge Methodist Church.
