LAUNCESTON Ladies recently played a friendly match against Trethorne away, the match resulted in a win of 31/2-11/2. Ten members played Liz Hicks, Jean Parnell, Irene Bessell, Anita Bowden, Elaine Thomas, Mavis Wright, Catherine Slee, Heather Summers, Elizabeth Rawlinson and Rosemary Feierabend.

The Desert Springs Qualifier a double greensome was held on Thursday last, the winners this year for the second year in succession were Carol Squires and Gill Grigg with 43pts, runners up were Jan Harrison and Debbie Thomas with 40pts. The winners go on to play a regional qualifier at Okehampton later in the year.

A stableford competition also took place for those not wishing to enter the Qualifier. 1st, Catherine Slee & Joanne Harding 38pts on back 9; 2nd, Jane Gratton & Jackie Mansbridge 38pts; 3rd, Anthea Kelsey & Heather Summers 35pts; 4th, Sylvia Brown & Pauline Carr 34pts; 5th Mavis Wright & Sally Johns 33pts.

Thirty five ladies competed for the Campbell Bogey which was played in dry conditions but still a nip in the air, some some very good scores being recorded. 1st, Catherine Slee +2; 2nd, Irene Bessell + 2; 3rd, Elaine Thomas +1; 4th, Debbie Thomas +1.

Congratulations must go to Jan Harrison for being chosen to attend for County Training, this follows her performances in the recent County Championships held at St Enodoc.
