WHAT is hoped to be a ‘Giant’ success is this year’s Launceston Amateur Dramatics Society (LADS) Pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.

LADS will present their performance at the town hall in Launceston from January 21 to 23 with three evening performances and a Saturday matinee.

All seats are bookable at the Tourist Information Centre in Launceston or online at www.crbo.co.uk

This year’s adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk has been written by the same author as last year’s award winning production and is hoped to be another success for the company.

This year’s pantomime will benefit from characters such as an incompetent police force, two puppets from America, two fluffy clouds who ‘rain’ on stage and an opening chorus that will occur three scenes into the show.

All the usual fun of the pantomime is unleashed on stage, and perhaps even a little off the stage, with all the local jokes you could wish for and more than a few elements of surprise thrown in.

Go along to any one of the evening or matinee performances to find out what that means.

The evening performances start at 7.30pm and the Saturday matinee begins at 1pm with a chance afterwards to meet the characters in the foyer of the town hall.

So, make sure tickets are pre-booked for a chance to watch the Beanstalk grow, the Giant get his comeuppance, Jack gain a fortune, Ermytrude return and the Police attempt to ensure there is no trace of criminal activity.

Mind you with that lot around there isn’t much chance of anything happening, criminal or otherwise. Oh, no there isn’t!
