A YOUNG girl will have her long hair cut in Launceston Town Square this weekend to benefit a charity that provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.

Izabel McDonnell, who attends St Stephens Community Academy, has already raised more than £600 for The Little Princess Trust, and is hoping to raise further funds in the town square this Saturday, July 23, on the day of the hair cut.

Her hair will also be donated to the charity, and it will be cut on Saturday at 11am by Craig Chapman. The cut will take place in a gazebo in the square.

Izabel researched ideas for fundraising after finding out that a family member had cancer.

Izabel’s mother, Kerry Holland, said her daughter was ‘excited’ about Saturday: “She’s really looking forward to it. Nothing phases her. I think she’s just really pleased she has raised as much as she has done.”

Donations can be made in the square on the day, or via www.justgiving.com/Kerry-holland
