Tintagel flashed into festive mood on Saturday when its Christmas lights were switched on.

On behalf of Tintagel Christmas Lights Committee Elaine Flew thanked all who turned out and supported the event: “Once again, the honour went to everyone’s favourite, Neil Caddy of Pirate FM.

“Thanks to Simon and Julie of the Spar Shop, Pengenna Pasties, Dean Dangar, Stuart Cornelius, Mr Wakefield, the Cornishman Inn, the electricians, the Rev Michael Parsons, the Rev Bryan Ede, ‘Joseph and Mary’, ‘Father Christmas’, Camelford Town Band, Tintagel Male Voice Choir, Sheila Kenner, Tintagel Parish Council and all the helpers.”

Thanks were also extended to Julie Sandercock, who donated £100 from the event she held at Dingles Amusements, Julie Potter Cornish and Boscastle Craftiness for donating £250 and Roly and the Fellowship of the Knights Templar King Arthur’s Hall for their donation of £40.

Any further donations would be gratefully received towards new lights for next year, which will be on Saturday, December 3, 2016.

New members are needed on the committee so the Tintagel lights can improve year on year. Anyone interested in joining or wanting more details can contact Elaine on 01840 770345.

Father Christmas and his sleigh will drive through Tintagel on Friday at 5pm — keep an eye and ear out for him. Everyone is invited.
