CORNWALL Council confirmed that the Bude-Stratton Neighbourhood Plan went live for comment on their web portal on Monday.

This six week public consultation period prior to going forward to examination marks a significant step forward for the town’s neighbourhood plan, as it progresses towards becoming a material consideration with legal status that will guide planning decisions in the area as part of the developing Cornwall Local Plan.

This project milestone represents over three years of community engagement and consultative processes from a steering group established by Bude-Stratton Town Council under the chair of the Mayor, Cllr Lea Deely, involving over 200 volunteers who have considered many issues and their impact on their community.

Cllr Deely said: “The Bude-Stratton Neighbourhood Plan is all about land use planning; housing, business, green space, leisure facilities, environment and employment. It has afforded local people and businesses the opportunity to develop their own ideas about where they live and work and for these ideas to become part of the emerging Cornwall Local Plan.

“I implore all residents to look at the Bude-Stratton Neighbourhood Plan on the portal, to respond, to make their views known. This is imperative. I cannot over-emphasise the significance and importance of this.

“Currently Bude-Stratton Town Council is a consultative partner in the planning process. However, that is set to change. Our neighbourhood plan is on the cusp of becoming a major part of the planning process for this area in the Cornwall Local Plan. It will affect planning decisions made in Bude until 2030 and it will have to be given weight in any future planning decisions.”
