A PUPIL of Launceston's St Joseph's School is celebrating having won £500 for his school by getting creative with nature through a national 'Giving Nature a Home' competition. The Year 3 student, aged 8, was invited to enter the competition by JDP, a leading stockist of civil and drainage products for the building industry which has a branch in the town. The task was to produce their dream design for an insect hotel that could be used to create the perfect environment for ladybirds, lacewings, earwigs or even mason bees. Jim Brown, regional manager of JDP, said: "Our gardens are home to a wide range of living creatures, and our research found that by providing the right habitats we can greatly increase their numbers. "The activity can really interest and help to engage children in nature which is why we launched 'Giving Nature a Home' as a community initiative across our national network of branches."
