BUDE has won a bronze award for Best UK Coastal Resort in the British Travel Awards.

The town was voted for by the public ahead of areas such as Newquay, St Ives, Whitby, Brighton, Weymouth and Blackpool.

The award itself was accepted by Malcolm Bell, head of Visit Cornwall, on behalf of the Bude Area Tourist Board.

Mark Hibbard from the tourist board said: "We are so delighted to win this coveted award against such stiff competition.

"Bude is truly an all-round resort, with something to offer everybody, regardless of age.

"We know it's a fabulous destination, but it means so much to have received this accolade, especially since it's voted for by the travelling public — thank you!"
