A NEW hospice outreach centre has been given the go-ahead by Torridge District Council. Planning permission for North Devon Hospice's plans to build a new facility in Holsworthy was granted, last week. Called The Long House, it will allow even more care to be provided closer to home for people in the surrounding area. Stephen Roberts, North Devon Hospice's chief executive, said the approval was a huge step forward. "This is fantastic news for us. We were always optimistic that we'd get permission, but you can never be 100% sure until it comes through. "Now that we've had it confirmed, we are keen to press on with the project because it really will make a big difference to the people of Holsworthy and the surrounding area." The Long House will be built on land next to Holsworthy Medical Centre and the community hospital, which means North Devon Hospice can work more closely with healthcare teams to provide care.
