The conference, which welcomed celebrities and experts from all over the UK, was extremely well attended and focused on how we can all effect positive change in our local environment.
Two St Petroc’s pupils were heavily involved in the build up to the conference as narrators for the film that took centre stage in the event.
Last year, St Petroc’s pupils took part in a number of beach clean events and some of the older children were filmed making presentations about the water quality on Bude’s beaches. Undoubtedly the highlight of the conference for the pupils was meeting the celebrities — it’s not often that you get to have your picture taken with so many well-known faces.
Among them were TV presenters Natalie Fee and Miranda Krestivnikoff, as well as superstar big wave surfer, Andrew Cotton.
Headmaster, Dan Thornburn, said: “It really was an honour for our pupils to be so heavily involved in such an important national event. I am hugely proud of the contributions of not only Ollie and Molly but of all the St Petroc’s pupils who have helped clean local beaches and the Bude Sea Pool over the past year.”
