A TORRIDGE District Council sub-committee recently considered a complaint lodged against former Holsworthy Mayor David Smith, and concluded that there was "insufficient evidence."

A spokesman for Torridge District Council said the complainant had 30 days to ask for a review if they so wished.

Holsworthy Town Councillor David Smith commented: "For the second time in 12 months the Standards Board have rejected complaints made against me without even needing to ask for my side of the story.

"I hope that this group of councillors will now devote their energies to working with me to promote a more efficient council and ultimately a quality council of which we can all be proud."
