EDUCATION software business Schoolcomms has been awarded Business Innovation of the Year at the Cornwall Business Awards. The award given at the ceremony, which took place on May 15 at St Mellion International Resort, recognised the Bude-based company's innovative School Gateway smartphone app for parents. The app enables parents to view their child's achievements, timetables, attendance and behaviour incidents. Schoolcomms was founded in 2005 with the aim of helping schools to reinforce the fact that 'parents matter' and develop a two-way relationship, based on mutual trust, respect and a commitment to improving learning outcomes. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
