THE?A388 at?Kelly Bray was blocked for a short time on Tuesday, February 28, after an electricity pylon came down.
Just before 6am, reports were received of an electricity pylon being down and blocking the road — with a car having been hit.
It was soon discovered that one lane was blocked and power cables were hanging down but not in the road. A car had been hit and the air bags deployed. The pole came to rest on the bonnet of the vehicle.
A police spokesperson said the driver of the vehicle was ‘in shock only’.
By 7.08am there was full closure of the road and it was discovered the pole was a BT one not Western Power as was first suspected.
Shortly after, cars were getting through slowly. The police warned that it would take time to clear the road of heavy traffic and congestion.
