CAMELFORD Hall has improved its facilities thanks to a grant from the town council recently.

John Pearce, a member of the Camelford Hall committee, reported to town councillors and members of the public at the annual parish meeting on Thursday evening, March 7, that the hall has undergone some helpful improvements to date due to a grant from Camelford Town Council.

He explained that he was slightly surprised by the number of times the newly improved hall toilets have been used, saying: “The toilets, which are open to the public as well as users of the hall, are in regular use — I am always quite surprised to hear the frequent slamming of doors from the toilets while I’m in the hall. I think we often underestimate how much the public use them.”

He continued: “On this occasion, we also got a grant from the town council for a baby changing unit, as there are quite clearly a lot of babies who need changing in the hall. It has not been fitted yet but it’s on its way.

“The hall is actually doing reasonably well in terms of bookings. And we’ve got a bit spare to renew the floorings and other bits that need doing — the roof is over 100 years old and I know, from my experience at Lanteglos Church, that the slates can start slipping off.”
