WITH regard to the tragic accidents around the Cornish coastline over the Easter holiday, I would like to point out the importance of checking the tides.

One must always make sure that whilst using beaches or climbing on rocks, that the tide is way out and that you will not be cut off and put in danger of an incoming high tide and end up suffering the consequences.

To this end, the then North Cornwall District Council have produced the best tide table I have seen, with lots of extra information about the dangers of weever fish, jelly fish etc, but most of all, the importance of being safe on the coast.

The table costs 70p. A small amount for something that could save your life. You can buy the table at the Bude Tourist Office. It also covers various seaside resorts around the Cornish coastline.
