TRIBUTES were paid to a hunting enthusiast of many years at a joint meet of the Tetcott and Stevenstone groups recently.
Judith Barnes, who rode to hounds with the Tetcott Hunt, met an untimely death from cancer earlier this year and at the meet, members of Judith's family were on hand to receive a £100 cheque on behalf of Cancer Research UK.
For Judith and husband Phil hunting played a major part of their lives, and they first met while out hunting on the old railway line between Pyworthy and Bridgerule.
Phil said: "A few of us were attending to some gates when suddenly this rider came galloping around the corner and crashed into me.
"It was Judith, and although I had seen her at several meets earlier, this incident was the start of our future lives together and we were married two years later in 1982."
