AFTER the large crowds attended the Tetcott Hunt’s Boxing Day meet in Holsworthy it was more of the same for the meet at Stratton on New Year’s Day.
A spokesman for the Tetcott Hunt said: “The support for trail-hunting was clearly as strong as ever as people spilled off the pavements to catch sight of the 30 or more beautifully turned out horses and the very friendly hounds.”
Phones and cameras were soon clicking to record the colourful tradition stretching back over hundreds of years.
The spokesman continued: “The welcome shown by the public was amazing with the whole area packed with people young and old.
“The hounds in particular loved it as they mingled with the crowds really enjoying being stroked and patted, especially by the youngsters.
“One lady was heard to say she attends every year and is pleased to see so many supporting this event.”
Another young lady, on holiday from California, was enthralled by the occasion and made sure she had plenty of photographs to show her folks back home.
After the riders had enjoyed some tasty snacks, and a festive glass or two, the master led the hunt out into the open countryside to follow the hounds seeking out the pre-laid scent trails.
