This year's fund-raising drive for the RNLI is taking place over the May Day Bank Holiday, and is, appropriately called Mayday. The symbol of Mayday is the yellow welly, because these are what our brave crewmen wear whenever they go out on a shout.
Tenby RNLI committee are running a Hunt the Welly competition with the co-operation of many local shops. Sheets will be on sale for £1, with clues to follow around the town to help you spot the wellies, and the competition will run from May 1 until noon on Monday, May 4.
Clue sheets can be found at either the Lifeboat House Shop or Morris Bros in the High Street. Completed clue sheets must be returned to the Lifeboat House by noon on Monday, May 4.
So come on, have a go at spotting yellow wellies and help raise money to keep our lifeboats keep you safe on and in the sea. In case you're not sure what our yellow wellies look like, coxswain Philip John's son, Dylan, is very kindly modelling the whole outfit - doesn't he look good!
In addition, on Saturday, May 2, there will be a flag day in the town, so if you think you're too old to hunt the wellies, please drop some pennies in the boxes that will be around town. Let's make this a bumper Mayday for the RNLI.
