THE Bude-Stratton Town Council-run consultation regarding the future of services on Summerleaze Downs has ended and received more than 1,800 responses.

As part of its ongoing commitment to improve communications with the local community, Bude-Stratton Town Council held a public consultation to gauge the public’s interest in the area and to collate local ideas for how it could be better utilised.

The consultation mainly focused on examining the future use of the pitch and putt building and its surrounding land and reviewing the wider set of uses and users’ desires for the Downs.

There are no plans to build on the Downs, the consultation just sought to discuss the current uses and users’ needs.

After a number of postponements due to COVID, the consultation has concluded. The council will now spend some time looking through responses and collating the data, with the aim of displaying its findings at an event in The Parkhouse Centre next month.

A Bude-Stratton Town Council spokesperson said: “Bude-Stratton Town Council has received a fantastic response to the public consultation on Summerleaze Downs. This is clearly an area of real interest to the public, and more than 1,800 responses were submitted. A big thank you to all those who took the time to complete the consultation.

“The consultation data will now be analysed and evaluated by the town council over the coming weeks, and it will be of significant value to the council when making important decisions about Summerleaze Downs moving forward. The public will have a chance to review the consultation data at a display in The Parkhouse Centre in early February.”
