ALMOST 40 years ago, a small group of friends ran into the freezing cold sea at Crooklets Beach, Bude, on Christmas Day as a challenge.
This year, over 2,000 watched as around 600 people took the icy plunge to start their Christmas morning. The amount of swimmers were similar, if not a little more, than last year, said organisers.
The annual Bude Surf Life Saving Club Mike Moyle Memorial Christmas Day Swim has continued to be a highlight of the festive season and was again very well supported.
The air temperature was quite warm compared to other years, and the water was around eight degrees, so those dressed as elves, 'Santas' and everyone else in costumes and shorts were at an advantage.
