Bude was transformed for last week’s jazz festival.
Musicians travelled far and wide to take part in the annual event — from the USA, Canada, and places in Europe, including France, Germany and Holland.
The event, which is sponsored by St Austell Brewery, featured four days of jazz music, colourful costumes and parasol parades.
There were more than 80 performances over the four days. Events were held at 18 different venues in and around Bude.
One of the organisers, Peter Daniel, said it was ‘well supported’.
“It went very well and I think most people had a very enjoyable time.”
Umbrellas decorated with feathers, flowers, ribbons and sequins were carried through the streets of Bude and Stratton for the parasol parades, which were led by jazz festival marshal Edwin Adcock.
The ‘best dressed parasol competition’, sponsored by Sainbury’s, was well supported — winner of the children’s competition was Ashlee Werner and winner of the adult’s section was Tracey Werner.
Staff from shops in and around the town turned out their best wares to decorate windows for the best dressed display, sponsored by the Post.
This year’s competition winner was awarded to the Cornwall Hospice Care Lifestyle shop.
Plans are already underway for next year’s jazz festival, which is planned for August 30, 31 and September 1 and 2.
