The North Cornwall Vegan Fair returned to Bude this year for a “hugely successful” day of vegan celebration.
This was the second year of the North Cornwall Vegan Fair (NCVF), the last taking place in 2019 prior to the pandemic. The fair offers its visitors the opportunity to experience some of the food and drink on offer as part of a vegan diet while also offering discussion, education and even some games surrounding the lifestyle.
A variety of stallholders attended the fair from jewelers, artists, soap and shampoo sellers and of course lots of vegan food stalls. Organisers were delighted to discover a few stalls run by visitors to the 2019 fair and inspired to open their own vegan business.
Attendees were also treated to a number of talks from a variety of speakers including, ‘From undercover Journalist to Vegan Farmer’ and ‘Back to Basics and hw to become more active for the animals’.
The event is keen to express that while rising in popularity, veganism is not a new concept, Rowena Wilson, one of the festival’s organisers said: “People have been vegan and thriving for decades, since Donald Watson coined the phrase and founded the movement in 1945 and the NCV Fair brings these ideas to our community in a friendly interpersonal manner where people cn ask questions of vegan doctors, teachers, chefs and pick up tips and free recipes to experiment with.”
“With everything we saw at the fair, being vegan is becoming easier and more popular by the day. If you live in Bude, you can visit the first fully vegan cafe ‘Roots Lounge’ and ‘Vegan Neesh’ stall at the artisan market and there are many other fully vegan outlets now appearing in other towns around the county.”
