Pyworthy’s first village show was a resounding success with about 300 entries overall.
The variety of classes was extensive and showed off the village’s talent, such as the art and crafts sections, not to mention the huge number of vegetables.
Gill Johns said: “Due to this summer’s weather the fruit and flower sections were a little depleted, but in all everyone made a huge effort, and the judges had quite a job on their hands, in particular when it came to the Victoria sandwich entries.
“Congratulations to the overall organisers, from Margaret and Chrissie to Irene and Marie, for sorting out all the entries with individual cards and the prize winner cards for the judges and their comments.
“There were many other helpers — too many to mention specifically by name — but a big thanks to you all.”
Gill added: “A huge thank you must also go to all who came along early last Saturday to put the tables up, the numbers out for each class and then helping all the entrants to the right place with their entries.
“When the doors finally opened, following the judging, for everyone to come and see how they had done, the kitchen was busy serving bacon baps, coffee and tea and of course cream teas all afternoon. We look forward to another show in 2016.”
