A LOOE couple whose hotel featured on a recent episode of Channel 5's The Hotel Inspector say they have been 'forging ahead with the drive to modernise' since their visit from presenter Alex Polizzi last autumn.

The hotel guru admired the fabulous location of the Fieldhead Hotel – and its 'charming' owner, Julian Peck – but chastised Julian and his wife Gill for their old-fashioned approach.

While Julian says the Fieldhead is not ashamed to be traditional, the couple has taken on board many of Alex's suggestions.

The hotel now boasts a fresh new look with redecorated rooms and a new website.

As well as finding it easier to book online, guests can now use free wi-fi when they stay.

'We still describe ourselves as traditional, but we've acknowledged that in some areas modern touches were required, for example we are now active on social media,' says Julian.

'This is the Fieldhead at its best now – my view of the future is so positive.'
