Supportive members of the community, regulars and visitors to the hotel and restaurant raised the money with raffles and fundraisers, their popular music and theme nights throughout the spring and summer of this year.
Owners, Steven and Jamie Pedley, said: “We wanted to raise money for a worthwhile cause in Tintagel, which the whole village community could enjoy, and we would like to thank our regular customers and visitors to the hotel for their generous support.
“We are now looking for nominations from the community for our local fundraising cause for next year, and anyone who wishes to put a suggestion forward, please contact the hotel.”
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the committee were members Julie Keenan, Yolande Muller, secretary Elaine Flew, parish councillor Roger Wickett and chairman Martin Smith.
A spokesperson for the Christmas lights committee said: “On behalf of Tintagel Christmas lights committee and the people of Tintagel village, we would like to say a massive thank you to Jamie and Steven at the Tintagel Hotel for their generous donation of £1,000 towards lighting up Tintagel. Merry Christmas!”
The Tintagel lights were switched on, on Saturday.
