TO HELP her four daughters "embrace living in the rural countryside", Debbie Johns, of North Petherwin, has encouraged them to go to school at Week St Mary on horseback.

The four mile route takes the girls around an hour and 20 minutes to complete, which means an early start for Debbie and her two eldest, Alisha (aged 11) and Miya (aged eight) to ready the horses.

Debbie walks with the four girls, and then rides back, leading the other three.

"It's important that the children embrace the countryside," said Debbie. "This way, the kids get exercise, mummy gets exercise and the horses get exercise."
