IN the run up to the referendum on EU membership, we are told that  it is incumbent on both sides to be honest  with the British electorate.

In reality, as the two sides jockey for position, nothing could be further from the truth.

David Cameron is behaving like a shady used car salesman in  his dealings with his own Cabinet about which way they should vote.

On top of this  there are  disagreements between the factions,  on the wording of the ballot sheet, the age limit of the voters and the timing of the poll.

We have the SNP saying that if we vote to leave they are going to take their ball home and push for another Scottish  independence referendum.

The Labour party have done a complete U-turn. They are now saying that they are in favour of a referendum, after being against all through the General Election campaign.

The Lib Dems do not want a referendum at all and  are all for staying in the EU but are virtually extinct as a political force.

We get seasoned politicians on the Tory benches complaining about being ruled from Brussels.

If this be the case, why  did they  bother to fight  for a seat in Westminster if it is so powerless?

Or is it that  they enjoy  being paid for doing nothing?

The spin doctors have already taken over the referendum. We could end up with an election on an election if the format cannot be agreed upon.

All in all it's a right old mess.

I, for one, am totally fed up with the whole business and unconvinced by either side.

If it carries on like this, the great  apathetic British public, will be the only winner.

I suppose we have Nigel Farage to thank for all this.  Never mind, only another two years to go.

Saints preserve us.
